Regional Manufacturing Survey Findings
Manufacturing employs more than 600,000 workers in Ohio and accounts for about 17% of Ohio’s economy. A regional manufacturing survey was conducted by Clark, Schaefer & Hackett CPAs to about 3000 manufacturers and below were the findings.
-
50% of manufacturers report business “health” is improving vs 43% in 2012
-
Only 8% of manufacturers said business “health” is declining
-
However 42% of manufacturers reported revenue growth in 2013 vs. 81% in 2012
Generally companies with more revenue were more likely to report improving business health
Competitive Advantage: Quality, Customization and Innovation remain the top three (3) factors that contribute to Ohio’s manufacturers competitive advantage
Investment: 58% plan to invest in Information Technology, 68% plan to invest in Production Equipment and 37% plan to invest in their plant or facilities
Simply put, we all “feel” that manufacturing in the United States is improving to the point we are feeling more comfortable investing in equipment and information technology, but there are still a number of concerns keeping us up at night.
Let me know your feedback if this survey mimics what you are seeing in your business.
